MUD_SEQUENCE is a short video clip depicting a picturesque muddy landscape, where a female body camouflages itself and mimics instinctive, animal-like behaviors. The muddy site is located near a beach in Croatia, a location renowned for its healing mud. The interaction between body and mud shapes the landscape. Healing peloid, composed of humus and minerals formed through the long decomposition of various plants, connects past and present ecological conditions.
Eco-grief is a profound emotional response to the loss of natural environment. It encompasses a range of emotions, including sadness, despair, anger and helplessness, triggered by witnessing the destruction of ecosystems and the extinction of species. ///
MUD_SEQUENCE
DOOMERS ARE PESSIMISTS WHO ARE OBSESSED AND PARALYSED BY THE END OF THE WORLD. DOOMERISM IS A TERM ROOTED IN CONTEMPORARY CULTURE, CONCERNING ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIETAL COLLAPSE. THIS OUTLOOK IS CHARACTERIZED BY A BELIEF THAT CATASTROPHIC OUTCOMES ARE INEVITABLE, LEADING TO A SENSE OF HOPELESSNESS AND INACTION. THE RISE OF DOOMERISM IS OFTEN LINKED TO INCREASING AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CRISES, FACILITATED BY MEDIA COVERAGE AND SCIENTIFIC REPORTS THAT HIGHLIGHT THE SEVERE CONSEQUENCES OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES ON THE PLANET. PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS, SUCH AS COGNITIVE BIASES TOWARDS NEGATIVE INFORMATION AND A SENSE OF POWERLESSNESS EXACERBATE THIS MINDSET.
SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AMPLIFY DOOMER NARRATIVES, CREATING ECHOCHAMBERS THAT REINFORCE FEELINGS OF DESPAIR. WHILE DOOMERISM CAN RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT PRESSING ISSUES, IT CAN ALSO LEAD TO COUNTER PRODUCTIVE OUTCOMES. TO COMBAT DOOMERISM, IT IS IMPORTANT TO FIND A BALANCED PERSPECTIVE THAT ACKNOWLEDGES THE GRAVITY OF GLOBAL CHALLENGES WHILE ENGAGING A POSITIVE MINDSET, FROM DOOM TO ONE OF POSSIBILITY AND HOPE. MOORS ARE HIGHLY ENDANGERED HABITATS AND ARE USED FOR SPA AND CURING PURPOSES. TAKE UP A PHYSICAL CONNECTION WITH THE PRESERVED PLANTS OF THE PAST. ///
